Description
Aaron Copland’s ballet Appalachian Spring received its first performance in 1944 at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC with choreography by modern dance legend Martha Graham. The iconic melodies, some taken from old Shaker tunes, paint a picture of the American way of life and the wide-open plains of western Pennsylvania. The three movements of David Amram's Double Concerto PARTNERS, premiered in December 2018 by Maria Schleuning and Jolyon Pegis, honor the different genres of music that these three groups of unique musical partnerships celebrated. All six musicians graciously took the time to be supportive and encouraging to young and upcoming musicians and composers, with Amram himself among them in 1955 in New York City.
Our Safety Commitment to You
It is the DSO’s duty to ensure the safety and health of our employees and patrons when we hold concerts, and we will continue to follow our current protocols backstage and in the front of house with patrons. Masks will be mandatory for staff, patrons, musicians and anyone working in the Meyerson. It has been clearly demonstrated that masks and social distancing slow the spread of COVID-19, and at this time, the CDC is recommending mask wearing in public places. Despite Texas Governor Abbott’s elimination of mask requirements and attendance limits in venues as of March 10, the DSO will require masks in the Meyerson Symphony Center, and we will limit attendance for the remainder of this season.
Tickets for the 25/26 season will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
